Did you see the buzz about the older (aka Senior) couple trying to figure out their webcam? It went from a viral sensation to all the major news outlets---something as simple as two older people talking to each other in front of a webcam not aware that it is turned on and recording! Here's the link if you want to watch! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcN08Tg3PWw Two things to learn from this: 1. More and more seniors are embracing the web and social media tools as a way to communicate with their children! (believe it or not, I teach a Facebook for Granparents Class!) 2. It only takes something small, but one thing could go from a simple post on a page to viral just like this video that now has people creating YouTube remixes of Webcam 101 for Seniors to the music of Kanye West! What it does take is consistent posting, that process of putting something out there to your fans daily to make sure they know you are there! Do you have anything interesting happening next week you'd like us to create events or talk about! Let us know, send us pictures, give us a call and we'll make sure the word gets out - to the broad range of audience now moving into the world of social media Add Comment Psst! It's a secret, but SO-ME has moved operations to the coast for the next two weeks - you can always check our personal pages for pictures of sunny skies, salty skin and sandy feet! Did you know according to a survey that people who use Facebook on a regular basis are more outgoing, happier, well adjusted people. I'm just saying - are you using Facebook? Funny while on vacation, I actually had a person say, "I can tell it's summertime, my Newsfeed isn't full of status updates. When I replied, "You are looking!" They replied, "How else would I know what's going on!" There's your testimonial, people do read the status updates even if they may not comment on them AND they are looking for them! So, what are your plans for Father's Day? Are you planning a special event? Do you have any specials for Dad? Changing your tune or changing your hours for the lazy, hazy days of summer? We're moving into talking about school being out, the days getting hotter (really, they are already there) and hoping time will slow down! It's sort of like that person on the beach size 42 stuffed into a size 25 Speedo, everyone is sneaking a peek, everyone is talking about it but you'll never know. Just like Facebook, we all do need to get a life and get off the computer, but it should make you feel better than being on Facebook makes you a happier person, right? Happy Friday and Happy Memorial Weekend! Do you have plans? Are you open on Monday? This is your Friday reminder to let us know if there's anything exciting you wish us to promote - anniversaries, events, birthdays, etc. We've been putting pictures up on pages as well as events and notes. Remember when you share these items on your personal pages, you extend the reach of the status to all your personal friends as well - that's a lot of people! So when you see something come across, it only takes a minute but share it and get the word out! If you want to learn more of what we do, or more of Facebook - we've scheduled a Facebook Lunch and Learn June 7th from 11am to 1pm at Big Shotz Tavern on Stratford Road (sorry out of towners). Let me know if you are interested in attending! Have a wonderful three day weekend and be happy that you are getting SO-ME so you don't have to worry about your fanpage It's like THUNDER, isn't it? 05/13/2011
Wicked storms moving through outside with lots of thunder but no real rain or lightening - yet. This reminds me of what I call the "bullet posts" those that post 6 times at once then feel they've done their duty. Like the thunder when the lightening and rain is hidden from view, you'll only see the first post the other 5 hide under "see similar stories" link under the original post. So all that thought and work went completely unnoticed! Posting is easy if you keep this in mind: Post atleast once a day, keeping your page vibrant. If you have multiple posts make sure you put some time in between posts to make sure all are seen! What are your plans for the beginning of summer, are you building up to the end of school, college graduations, then Father's Day? Little reminders about things coming up so we can work together and get the word out! Thank you for working with SO-ME and let's put some thunder AND lightening into our pages! Ohh the Royal Wedding Hats! 04/29/2011
Happy Beautiful Friday as we sigh over the Royal Wedding. I noticed there were so many different and unusual hats in the crowd attending the wedding, a very interesting British tradition! It made me think of all the hats that you wear as business owner, and to THANK YOU for allowing SO-ME to assist your business in its Social Media management! We are nearing our one year anniversary and have you to thank! The questions portion of Facebook came up and many asked if we should be asking questions. My answer at this moment is that EVERYONE is asking questions, so think about the time you spend on Facebook and count the number of questions you've answered.....well? I think as everyone has fun with this, the novelty will wear off and then we can periodically post the question, and see the response! In the meantime, we're trying to keep posting sharable information on your pages, so don't forget to get friends, and family to like them so you move up in search engines, as they get "liked" the reach of your page extends beyond just your profile! We all would love to have the fairy tale wedding (me? Not!) but watching it this morning and the news coverage gave a real validation of social media, many news anchors were reading from Twitter feeds in the crowd and having Facebook conversations about the wedding as it happened. Like it or hate it, social media - that constant connection is moving more mainstream. Aren't you glad you're getting SOME? Are YOU following the Cobra? 04/01/2011
If anyone says there's no value in social media, then here's a two great points: "Duh...winning!" and a Cobra that gathered 100,000 twitter fans including tweets from the Mayor of New York City! People love the constant connection that social media provides and with daily interaction on your sites they're getting that. What they also want is a connection with you - the business owner - so when you get a chance stop by and drop a few lines on your fanpages and on friends and sales connection fanpages! People are actually saying that notes and comments on Facebook profiles qualify as a networking touch.....what do you think? "Duh, winning!" This is your friendly Friday reminder, now that weather is turning warmer (almost) what is going on with your business. We'd like to take a editorial direction and want interaction with you - do you want us to follow and comment on baseball season as it starts, is there fashion trends that you want us to write about, moving your pages to a casual conversation that says something about your business and doing that "touch." Let us know of any events, items you'd like to move, specials and we'll make sure we get the word out. Don't go the way of the cobra (it's now behind bars) and get ahead of the game, thank you for letting us help in keeping those pages vibrant! Feel free to forward our emails, or you can always direct people to like our Facebook profile where we're posting our notes! Friday Email - Are you ready for Spring? 03/28/2011
Happy Friday from SO-ME Social Media! It's a beautiful spring day as some of our customers still enjoy the beautiful white snow of winter (NOT!). Think about ways to include Mother's Day....start now on a Mother's Day special bargain, or buy spring gift wrap for Mother's Day purchases! If you want to add a Mother's Day special to the menu or store, the best part of Social Media is getting the word out instantly and constantly! We can create a Mother's Day event for you to share on your personal pages and invite people to! You may have noticed that the Suggest To Friends link has disappeared from your pages, this is Facebook's way of not annoying users with too many page suggestions. Personally since I always suggested to people I thought would like it but that's my opinion. Keep getting the word out by sharing the link to your page on your personal page! I'll post a share on SOME and my personal page so you can see what they look like. If you didn't make our lunch and learn it was a great time - very energizing meeting! We're planning another on soon and will get the word out! Help us get the word out that we are looking to manage more accounts - tell everyone how you are getting SOME! First Post! 03/28/2011
